I apologize for long break between posts! My intention was to post monthly, and I last posted in November and it is now April!
The children have come so far since November and I am proud to share some of the group projects they have been working on.
In Social Studies we have been studying different land forms. Each table group was assigned a different land form to create using manipulatives and here are the results:
The Blue Horses created an ocean.
The Green Frogs created a lake.
The Yellow Ducks created snow - capped mountains.
The Red Birds created a river.
In Reader's Workshop, we have been learning how to research. I love this unit because it ties together all the reading strategies we have been learning, and allows them to practice synthesizing information. The students worked in groups to read nonfiction text about their chosen topic, listen for specific information, record and illustrate facts about the animals on their research poster.
Katelyn, Aubree, Daniel, and Alexander researching ladybugs.
Brooke, Evan and Adam researching geckos.
Savannah, Asa, Nima and Jack researching frogs.
Yousef, Ava, Ridhi and Savi researching butterflies.
Stella, Srikaran, and Caitlin researching butterflies.
Clara and Bailey researching turtles.
Finally, each group presented their poster to the class.
